Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI,” has quit Google to warn about AI dangers and predicts that universal basic income (UBI) will be needed to address job losses and inequality caused by AI.

Hinton advised the UK government on UBI, stressing that AI will increase wealth but mainly benefit the rich, leaving displaced workers vulnerable.

He also warned of AI posing extinction-level threats if it surpasses human intelligence.

Hinton calls for global regulations to control military AI use, fearing autonomous systems could become uncontrollable.

His concerns echo recent resignations at OpenAI, where workers quit over similar fears about the rapid advancement of AI technologies.
