For only the third time since at least 2006, the NWS Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Day 2 High Risk warning for severe storms.

The last 2 occurrences? April 14, 2012 & April 7, 2006тАФboth resulted in major tornado outbreaks.

Tomorrow, central and southern Mississippi and Alabama face a high risk of destructive storms and tornadoes.

Residents should take this warning seriously and prepare for potential extreme weather.

A multi-day tornado outbreak is set to slam the Midwest, South, and East through the weekend, bringing long-track tornadoes, 60-100 MPH wind gusts, massive hail, and flash flooding.

NOAAтАЩs Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 4 out of 5 risk for todayтАФexpected to escalate to a rare тАЬHigh RiskтАЭ (5/5) on Saturday.

With storms hitting at night in some areas, officials urge everyone to have multiple ways to receive warnings and know their shelter plans.
