U.S Defense Secretary Austin reportedly said, “Excuse me, what did you say?” when Israel informed him of their plan to assassinate Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

During a second call the same day, Austin asked Israeli Minister of Defense Gallant if Israel was prepared to be “alone” when it came to defending itself, given the lack of notice.

Officials are now growing concerned Israel may launch an attack on Iran without agreeing with them on the scope or scale of it.

Gallant canceled a meeting with Austin scheduled for today, where he was expected to bring some details of the strike plan, including potential targets.
