U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urged Israel to reduce its airstrikes around Beirut, saying civilian casualties are “far too high.”

The strikes, aimed at Hezbollah targets, have sparked concern over the safety of U.N. peacekeeping forces.

Austin also noted that U.S. military aid could face restrictions unless Israel addresses the growing humanitarian crisis.

The U.S. continues to press Israel to protect civilians in both Gaza and Lebanon as the conflict intensifies.
