New data reveals where STIs are running wild—and if you’re in Mississippi, you might want to think twice before that next hookup. The Magnolia State tops the charts with 700 chlamydia cases per 100,000 people and the lowest HPV vaccination rate (just 38.5%!).

Alaska isn’t far behind, with gonorrhea rates skyrocketing at 251.1 per 100,000. Rounding out the top 10 STI hotspots: North Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Nevada, and Florida.

HIV cases? Georgia takes the unfortunate crown with 23.1 cases per 100,000—double the national average—while Arkansas is seeing a 66.7% surge in infections since 2018.

The biggest risk? Young adults (20-24) are seeing the highest chlamydia and gonorrhea rates. Experts say better sex education is key to stopping the spread.
