Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of Russia’s Duma, warns that Western-backed Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory could lead to a “global war with the use of nuclear weapons.”

He claims Russia would respond with tougher, more powerful weapons.

Volodin’s comments follow a European Parliament vote favoring Ukrainian strikes on Russian targets.

The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western-supplied weapons against targets on Russian territory.

425 MEPs voted in favor.
131 were against.
63 abstained.

The resolution also urges the EU to speed up arms deliveries, expand sanctions on Russia, and impose a full embargo on Russian LNG and oil exports.

Putin:

“It would mean that NATO countries, the U.S., European countries, are at war with Russia.”
