The Kremlin expressed significant concern over the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s pledge to establish a “true European Defence Union.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov:

“This is a clear signal of the EU’s intention to militarize.

These are the realities in which we must live, and this forces us to configure our foreign policy approaches accordingly.”

The European Defense Union is intended to bolster defense cooperation among member states, ensuring collective security and rapid response to threats.
