Pakistan’s jailed ex-PM Imran Khan officially applied for Chancellor of Oxford University

IMRAN KHAN RUNS FOR OXFORD CHANCELLOR DESPITE IMPRISONMENT

Imran Khan, Pakistan’s imprisoned former PM, has applied to become Oxford University’s next chancellor.

The election, set for October, will replace Chris Patten.

Despite being jailed on various charges, Khan’s candidacy is bolstered by his previous role as chancellor of the University of Bradford and his academic history at Oxford, where he studied in the 1970s.

The position, although largely ceremonial, involves significant responsibilities in appointing the vice-chancellor and fundraising.

Voting will occur online from October 28.
