🇺🇸 NEW YORK LAUNCHES “EMPIRE AI” FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the launch of “Empire AI,” the nation’s first AI research consortium dedicated to solving critical societal issues through public-private collaboration.

Empire AI is backed by $400 million in public and private funding.

Fueled by a major philanthropic donation from the Simons Foundation, Empire AI will start research this fall, leveraging computing resources at the University at Buffalo.

Areas of focus include climate resilience, healthcare, education access, cybersecurity, and smart city infrastructure.

Interim Director Dr. Robert Harrison will lead the project, with leadership from New York’s top research universities, including Columbia, NYU, and Cornell.
