Lula indicated Brazil’s openness to joining China’s Belt and Road Initiative, while emphasizing that strengthening ties with China will not compromise Brazil’s relationship with the United States.

The meeting with Xi will follow the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro in November, as Brazil seeks to bolster its global diplomatic and economic partnerships.
