A 73-year-old Israeli businessman was arrested last month for allegedly being recruited by Iran to assassinate Netanyahu, Gallant, or the head of the Shin Bet.

He met with Iranian intelligence officials, who asked him to “advance assassination attacks” while also considering the possibility of assassinating other senior officials.

The attacks were being planned as retaliation for Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

His lawyer claimed he “made an error in judgment in the context of his business.”
