The latest of them is #WalidDaqqa… How does the Israeli occupation commit medical crimes against prisoners?

The #Palestinian Prisoner’s Club said that medical crimes in their various forms and levels constituted the most prominent policies pursued by the Israeli occupation against prisoners and detainees in its prisons.

The club pointed out the martyrdom of dozens of prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons over the past decades as a result of medical crimes, the last of whom was the martyr Commander Walid Daqqa, and preceded by the martyr Assef Al-Rifai.

Medical crimes escalated after the seventh of October, and the competent institutions followed up many testimonies and cases about medical crimes, which constituted a fundamental factor in the martyrdom of prisoners after the seventh of October, in addition to the operations of torture, abuse, and starvation.

The occupation targeted hundreds of sick Palestinians through widespread arrest campaigns carried out by the occupation army after October 7, among whom were wounded and cancer patients.

In the same context, a number of reports revealed what was described as “unprecedented crimes” faced by Gaza detainees, including the wounded and sick inside the occupation camps, who face the crime of enforced disappearance to this day.

One of the most prominent policies adopted by the occupation prison administration against sick and wounded prisoners after October 7th is that, “After October 7th, the prison administration stopped transferring sick prisoners who needed close health follow-up to clinics.” “The prison administration canceled many examinations for many sick prisoners, which the prisoners had been waiting for for a long time due to procrastination.”

Also, “by decision of the Israeli Ministry of Health and with the blessing of many medical teams, some hospitals and doctors refuse to treat Palestinian prisoners,” and “the prison administration stopped transferring prisoners to hospitals except in very serious cases, which exacerbated the suffering of the prisoners, especially with their deprivation of going out even to the prison clinic.” “.

It deliberately did not provide treatment to hundreds of prisoners and detainees who were subjected to abuse and torture, leaving them without any treatment, despite their injuries, and this was reflected in dozens of testimonies of detainees who were recently released. While many patients were subjected to repression, transfer, and abuse.

Also, sick prisoners in the occupation prisons face systematic starvation operations, as do all prisoners in prisons, which directly affects their lives. The prison administration has greatly restricted the work of legal teams in following up on many medical files related to prisoners with chronic diseases. Medical equipment was confiscated from some prisoners, such as glasses and crutches.

Another of the crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinian prisoners is that diabetics and those who need special foods due to their health conditions live under difficult and dangerous setbacks. It is noteworthy that the number of sick and wounded prisoners is increasing with the ongoing abuse and torture, in addition to starvation.
