Former Trump adviser Fiona Hill has been appointed by the U.K.’s new Labour government to lead a Strategic Defense Review.

Hill, a British-born Russia expert, served as a national security adviser to Trump until 2019.

Her appointment is seen as a move to engage with Republicans, anticipating a potential Trump victory.

The defense review, led by Hill, George Robertson, and General Richard Barrons, will address threats from China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

The review will conclude in 2025, affecting the U.K.’s defense spending plans.
