Cracked roads and shaken towns marked a violent jolt felt across central Colombia today.

The tremor struck just 10 kilometers below the surface – shallow enough to amplify shockwaves and damage infrastructure in rural zones.

Santa Cecilia, in Paratebueno, saw visible destruction, with emergency crews already surveying crumbled asphalt.

The 6.5 magnitude quake was confirmed by Germany’s GFZ institute, which noted its unusually shallow depth as a key factor in its impact.
