BREAKING: SYRIA CONDEMNS ISRAELI ATTACKS AND FILES AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT WITH UN SECURITY COUNCIL:

“From the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations
To the United Nations Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council

Based on instructions from my government, I wish to convey the following:

At a time when the Syrian Arab Republic is witnessing a new phase in its history, aimed at establishing a state of freedom, equality, sovereignty, and achieving its aspirations for prosperity and stability, the Israeli occupation has escalated its aggression by attacking areas in Jabal al-Sheikh and the Quneitra countryside. This includes heavy shelling that began violently and continuously targets civilian sites and properties, causing significant destruction and terror among citizens in these areas.

The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns these actions, which represent a grave violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement confirmed by Security Council Resolution 350, as well as blatant breaches of Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, in contradiction to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, international law, and Security Council Resolutions 242, 338, and 497.

Syria reiterates its demand for the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities by taking firm and immediate measures to halt Israel’s continuous aggression on Syrian territory, ensure it is not repeated, and withdraw from the occupied areas it seized in past decades, all while preventing the use of force to maintain peace.

I hope this letter will be issued as an official Security Council and General Assembly document under Agenda Item 34, titled “The Situation in the Middle East.”
