🚨🇺🇸 UPDATE: BARGE CRASH IN GALVESTON

A barge carrying petroleum products crashed into the Pelican Island Bridge in Galveston at around 10 a.m. today.

The barge, owned by Martin Petroleum, was carrying vacuum gas oil.

It has a capacity of 30,000 gallons, but the amount leaked is unknown.

The crash resulted in an oil spill, making Pelican Island inaccessible to vehicle traffic. No injuries were reported.

The spill has closed a 6.5-mile stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Temporary power outages on Pelican Island were reported but have since been restored.
