Biden unveiled steep tariff increases on Chinese imports, including EV batteries and computer chips, risking a standoff with Beijing.

The new tariffs will affect $18 billion in goods like steel, semiconductors, EVs, and solar cells.

New EV tariffs quadrupled to over 100%, and semiconductor tariffs doubled to 50%.

A US national security review panel reviewed and justified the tariffs due to China’s intellectual property theft.

China vowed retaliation against the hikes.
