🇧🇩BANGLADESH FLOODING CAUSING FOOD CRISIS
Severe floods have destroyed 1.1 million tons of rice in Bangladesh, leaving the country scrambling to import food as prices soar.
The disaster, caused by heavy monsoon rains and upstream runoff, claimed at least 75 lives and hammered key agricultural areas, especially in the east and north.
In response, the government is fast-tracking imports of 500,000 tons of rice to shore up supply.
With food prices already up 20%, this year’s floods underscore Bangladesh’s growing climate vulnerability, with experts pushing for more resilient crops to combat future disruptions.
