Vice-Chancellor Condoles the Passing of Dr. Mirajuddin Ahmad
Aligarh, January 11: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) fraternity is deeply saddened by the demise of Dr. Mirajuddin Ahmad, former irrigation minister and Member of the AMU Court, the university’s governing body. Dr. Ahmad passed away this evening at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

In her condolence message, AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Naima Khatoon, expressed profound grief and extended heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Ahmad’s bereaved family. She said, “Dr. Mirajuddin Ahmad was an exceptional leader, a visionary statesman, and a dedicated alumnus of AMU. His contributions to public service and the university will always be remembered with immense respect. The AMU community mourns his loss and stands in solidarity with his family during this difficult time.”

Dr. Ahmad was a distinguished graduate of the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) program at AMU and served as Vice President of the AMU Students’ Union during his student days. He carried forward a remarkable legacy, being the son of Padma Shri Hakim Saifuddin, a renowned Unani physician. His long-standing association with AMU and his active role in the University Court highlight his commitment to his alma mater.

Dr. Ahmad is survived by his wife, Maliha, two sons, and a daughter. His passing leaves a void not only in his family but also in the AMU community and beyond.

He will be buried after Zohar Prayer tomorrow at his family graveyard in Meerut.
