Why did the US target the Iraqi forces that entered Syria to assist the Assad regime against the opposition?

The Iraqi borders are controlled by the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) and the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), both of which are armed by the US and Israel.

If additional Iraqi Shia forces enter, it makes sense that they would seize territories not only from the opposition but also from US allies like the SDF and PKK.

The US needs the PKK and SDF in the northern near Turkish borders and northeastern regions near the Iraqi border for two key objectives:

1. The primary goal is to create tensions with Turkey, particularly if Turkey’s policies shift or if it takes actions perceived as rogue.

2. The US uses the SDF and PKK to monitor what enters Syria from Iraq, ensuring control over cross-border activities.

A massive counterattack from the SAA is unfolding against the city of Hama, recently captured by the rebel onslaught.
The combined use of armor from the Tiger brigade has been sighted to the cities north-west, while paratroopers are claimed to be dropping to the North/North-East.
The collapse of the SAA front was unusual because, although desertions can happen, Syria’s elite brigades were nowhere to be seen. It seems they are now entering the fray.
