🇭🇺 Orban: The West’s €300 Billion on Ukraine Was Wasted

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán criticized Western spending on Ukraine, calling it a waste and blaming it for escalating crises in Europe. Orbán argued that the €300 billion spent on the war could have been used to transform Europe instead:

“America and Europe together spent about 300 billion euros on the war. With this money, we could have achieved a rapid increase in living standards across Europe. We could have raised the ENTIRE BALKANS to the level of European development. We could have built a completely new European defense system, but this money has been burned.”

Orbán highlighted the devastating toll on Ukraine, including the destruction of its infrastructure and energy systems, leaving its economy unsustainable. He warned that political crises in Germany and France are just the beginning of the fallout from this strategy.

The Hungarian Prime Minister reaffirmed his approach to foreign policy, emphasizing partnerships with leaders like Putin. “Hungary considers Putin an honest partner,” he said, reiterating Hungary’s interest in maintaining strong relations with Russia.

Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Orbán predicted it will end in 2025 “either with a peace agreement or the destruction of one of the parties.”
