🇩🇪🇬🇪 Germany Freezes €237M in Georgian Projects Amid EU Alignment Concerns

Germany has announced a halt to €237 million worth of projects in Georgia, citing the country’s perceived “departure from the path to the EU.” The German ambassador confirmed that initiatives such as green hydrogen development, energy networks, and Batumi’s water infrastructure will no longer receive funding.

However, Berlin emphasized it will continue “supporting civil society” in Georgia—a phrase which means backing NGOs and groups advocating for political reform or opposition.

Translation: “We won’t invest in your progress, but we’ll keep funding efforts to destabilize your society until you align with our preferred political direction.”
