 What is Kalinka? A new Russian monitoring system by the Center for Unmanned Systems and Technologies (CBST) that can detect and target satellite signals, including Starlink, the satellite network used by Ukraine for military communications and drone operations.

· How does it work?

According to Andrey Bezrukov, chairman of the CBST board, Kalinka uses basic radio principles to track Starlink terminals, even with Starshield (the military version) in use. Its range depends on terrain and enemy tech interference.

Why does it matter?

Starlink is critical for Ukraine’s military, especially for coordinating operations and drone strikes. Kalinka’s ability to disable it could shift the balance of communication in the conflict.
