🇷🇴 ROMANIA’S RUN-OFF: WESTERN ALLIANCES ON THE LINE

Romania’s Constitutional Court has locked in a Dec. 8 showdown between conservative Calin Georgescu and center-right Elena Lasconi.

Georgescu’s surprise Nov. 24 win, which left many saying “Who?”, has him leading 57.8% to 42.2% in polls.

The Social Democrat Party (PSD), Romania’s largest party with 22.3% of last week’s parliamentary vote, is staying neutral, leaving voters to fend for themselves.

Meanwhile, conservatives snagged nearly a third of the seats, signaling a possible shift away from Romania’s pro-EU and NATO stance.

The next president picks the PM—so will Romania stay the course, or chart a new direction?
