An Indian government committee will meet U.S. officials in Washington to investigate claims that an Indian intelligence official directed a foiled plot to assassinate Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a U.S.-Canada dual citizen.

The U.S. has urged India to probe the Justice Department’s allegations.

India is also investigating other potential links.

This meeting comes amid diplomatic tensions between India and Canada over the assassination of another Sikh leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in 2023.

🚨🇮🇳 INDIA RECALLS DIPLOMATS AMID CANADA ASSASSINATION ALLEGATIONS

India recalled its ambassador and diplomats from Canada after rejecting Canada’s claims that India’s ambassador was involved in the assassination of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in 2023.

India called the accusations “baseless” and criticized Canada’s failure to ensure diplomat security.

Relations between the two nations have been tense since Canada accused India of being linked to the murder.

India denies the allegations and may take further action against Canada’s government.
