Hurricane Milton is projected to cause up to $50 billion in insured losses for Florida property owners, according to Fitch Ratings, pushing total insured losses for 2024 over $100 billion.

While Florida avoided the worst-case scenario, Milton now marks the largest insured loss since Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Analysts warn that the state’s already fragile insurance market could face further strain if another storm hits this season.
