Press coverage: After October 7… reports: A significant increase in the rates of Israeli reverse migration.

An investigation by the French website “Orion 21” said that the Israelis are complaining in an unprecedented way and are afraid of the unknown and the lack of clarity about what will happen due to the war on Gaza.

The French website relied on the testimonies of Israelis, some of whom immigrated to the Israeli occupation and began searching to return to where they came from.

The website said that there is a noticeable increase in demand for applications for Western passports.

The investigation revealed a state of shock, tension and fear experienced by the Israelis, a number of whom announced their intention to emigrate.

The website indicates that there is clear dissatisfaction among Israelis with the situation that has existed under the occupation for more than six months, coinciding with the start of the war on Gaza, which continues for the 200th day, and they see the “occupying state” as a rubbish country in light of the war.

The website quoted a senior European diplomat as saying that requests by Israelis to Western consulates to obtain foreign passports have increased five times what they were in this period last year.

The website indicated that about 5 million Israelis already have a second passport, meaning nearly half of Israelis.

Earlier, Israeli reports said that Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” contributed to an adverse increase in the number of Jewish immigrants from the occupation. According to official statistics, thousands left from October to December 2023, after the evacuation of the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip.

The number of Jews who left occupied Palestine by the end of 2020 reached 756,000 who held Israeli citizenship, then the number rose to 900,000 by the end of 2022, according to data from the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, while the numbers have increased significantly since the seventh of last October.

According to the Israeli Channel 12, a large number of Israelis submitted asylum requests to Portugal after it announced allowing Jews to obtain asylum visas, provided that they hold an Israeli passport.

While the European Schengen Visa News website revealed that Israelis’ interest in applications for Portuguese citizenship increased by 68%, French by 13%, German by 10%, and Polish by the same rate until December 2023.

According to Israeli newspapers, the most prominent reason for this reverse migration is the Israelis’ loss of a sense of security due to the increase in Palestinian resistance operations after the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.
