Disagreements in Israeli war cabinet threaten the success of the operation in Gaza, WSJ says.

The positions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and the leader of opposition bloc Benny Gantz, who is in the military cabinet, diverge on two key issues.

They include whether Israel should negotiate for the release of hostages and an end to the conflict, as well as who should govern the Gaza Strip after the fighting ends.

WSJ report says the contradictions in the country’s leadership have worsened due to pressure from Washington to prevent civilian casualties, as well as due to the fact that the Israeli government was unable to return all the hostages.
