For decades, men have had just two birth control choices—condoms or vasectomies.

That may change soon. Scientists are developing new male contraceptives, including a daily hormonal gel (NES/T) that suppresses sperm production and an injectable hydrogel (ADAM) that blocks sperm transport.

Regulatory hurdles remain, with no male birth control ever approved by the FDA, but researchers say options could hit the market within a decade.
