🚨🇨🇺 CUBA DETAINS PROTESTERS AS POWER OUTAGES DRAG ON POST-HURRICANE
Cuban authorities detained individuals for “assault, public disorder, and vandalism” following protests over widespread power outages caused by Hurricane Rafael, which downed hundreds of power lines and left the entire island without electricity.
While power was restored to over 85% of Havana, Artemisa and Pinar del Rio remain largely without.
Rolling blackouts continue as Cuba’s outdated power grid struggles.
Protests over shortages of essentials are growing, though citizens’ legal right to protest remains undefined under stalled legislation.
