🚨2024 WORD OF THE YEAR: ‘BRAIN ROT’

Oxford officially declared ‘brain rot’ as 2024’s Word of the Year, and honestly, we’re not even surprised.

Defined as “the supposed deterioration of a person’s mental state from overloading on low-quality online trash,” it’s the perfect diagnosis for a world powered by doomscrolling and TikTok rabbit holes.

The term exploded in usage—up 230%—as people desperately searched for words to explain their fried attention spans and inability to focus for more than 8 seconds.

Meanwhile, Gen Z embraced it ironically, posting memes about how their brains have officially turned into mush.

In a year when TikTok crowned a baked potato trend king and people started using AI to write apology notes, is there a better word?

Of course not.

This is our collective vibe now: brain rot in 4K.

Do you have brain rot too, or are you lying to yourself?
