लंदन: एक नई रिपोर्ट में ब्रिटिश टेबलॉयड डेली मेल ने बताया है कि पिछले साल ब्रिटेन (यूके) के लेस्टर में हुई हिंसक नस्लीय झड़पों को कथित तौर पर ‘भारत के प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की हिंदू राष्ट्रवादी पार्टी (भाजपा) द्वारा भड़काया गया था.’
सप्ताहांत के दौरान प्रकाशित यह रिपोर्ट भाजपा की हिंदू राष्ट्रवाद की विचारधारा की ओर इशारा करती है, जो हिंदू बहुमत के हितों को प्राथमिकता देती है और धार्मिक एवं जातीय अल्पसंख्यकों को हाशिये पर रखने के लिए इसकी आलोचना की जाती रही है.
रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है, ‘भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के करीबी तत्वों पर लेस्टर में पिछली गर्मियों में भड़के दंगों में ब्रिटिश हिंदुओं को मुस्लिम युवाओं से उलझने के लिए उकसाने का संदेह है.’

अखबार से बात करते हुए यूके सुरक्षा बल के एक सदस्य ने कहा कि ऐसे सबूत मिले हैं कि भाजपा से जुड़े कार्यकर्ताओं ने क्लोज्ड वॉट्सऐप ग्रुपों का इस्तेमाल करते हुए हिंदू प्रदर्शनकारियों को सड़कों पर उतरने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया था.
रिपोर्ट में आगे कहा गया है, ‘लेकिन सूत्र ने चेतावनी दी कि यह भारतीय हिंदू राष्ट्रवादियों का ब्रिटेन में हस्तक्षेप करने के लिए निजी सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट का इस्तेमाल करने का ‘सबसे खराब’ उदाहरण था. उसने चेतावनी दी: अब तक यह मुख्य तौर पर स्थानीय राजनीति है – मोदी और उनकी भाजपा वह कर रहे हैं जो वे गुजरात (मोदी का गृह राज्य) में किसी भी तरह स्थानीय प्रतिनिधि निर्वाचित कराने के लिए करते.’
रिपोर्ट में यह भी कहा गया है, ‘यूके के एक सुरक्षा सूत्र ने बताया कि हिंदू प्रदर्शनकारियों को सड़कों पर उतरने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए भाजपा से जुड़े कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा क्लोज्ड वॉट्सऐप ग्रुप्स का इस्तेमाल करने के सबूत मिले हैं.’

बता दें कि अगस्त 2022 के अंत में भारत-पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट मैच के बाद हिंदू और मुस्लिम युवकों के बीच हिंसक झड़पें हुई थीं, जिन्होंने अंतरराष्ट्रीय मीडिया का ध्यान आकर्षित किया था, विशेष तौर पर भारत में जहां, इसे मुसलमानों द्वारा हिंदू निवासियों पर हमला करने के रूप में प्रचारित किया गया था.
डेली मेल को बताया गया था कि भारत के भाजपा कार्यकर्ताओं ने तब मैसेज और मीम्स जारी करने शुरू कर दिए थे, जो लेस्टर में हिंदुओं के बीच वॉट्सऐप ग्रुप्स में बड़े पैमाने पर भेजे गए थे.
28 अगस्त 2022 को भारत-पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट मैच के बाद से लेस्टर में 22 सितंबर 2022 तक कई रातों तक विरोध प्रदर्शन हुए, जिसमें युवाओं ने ‘जय श्री राम’ के नारे लगाते हुए सड़कों पर मार्च किया था. ‘जय श्री राम’ भारत में हिंदू दक्षिणपंथ की रैलियों का नारा बन चुका है.
मुसलमानों और उनके घरों पर हमलों के साथ-साथ हिंदू मंदिरों और घरों पर हमले और तोड़फोड़ की खबरें आई थीं.
सुरक्षा सूत्र ने डेली मेल को बताया कि कथित हस्तक्षेप दुनिया भर में हिंदुओं के नेता के रूप में खुद को स्थापित करने की मोदी की इच्छा का हिस्सा प्रतीत होता है. पिछले साल के दंगों के बाद लेस्टर में उपद्रव को भड़काने में सोशल मीडिया की भूमिका की जांच के लिए कई अध्ययन किए गए थे.
इससे पहले भी एक रिपोर्ट में बताया गया था कि 28 अगस्त 2022 को एशिया कप में हुए भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच मुकाबले के बाद ब्रिटेन के लेस्टर शहर में हिंदू और मुस्लिम समुदाय के बीच भड़के तनाव को भारत से संचालित ट्विटर एकाउंट्स द्वारा हवा दी गई थी.

रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, रटगर्स विश्वविद्यालय के नेटवर्क कन्टेजन रिसर्च इंस्टिट्यूट (Network Contagion Research Institute) के अनुसार, अगस्त के अंत और सितंबर 2022 की शुरुआत में लेस्टर में हुए दंगों के दौरान ट्विटर पर करीब 500 अप्रमाणिक एकाउंट बनाए गए थे, जिनसे हिंसा का आह्वान किया गया और मीम तथा भड़काऊ वीडियो फैलाए गए.
28 अगस्त 2022 को एशिया कप में भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच हुए क्रिकेट मैच के बाद लेस्टर में सैकड़ों लोग सड़कों पर उतर आए थे, कुछ दंगाई लाठी और डंडे लिए हुए थे और कांच की बोतलें फेंक रहे थे. जनता को शांत करने के लिए पुलिस को तैनात किया गया था.

UK-based publisher reveals Narendra Modi, BJP behind Leicester violence
In a major revelation, a UK-based media outlet Daily Mail it is reported that elements associated with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have fueled tensions in Britain and are responsible for inciting British Hindus to confront Muslim youth.
According to the report citing a UK security source, it said: “There is evidence of BJP-linked activists using closed WhatsApp groups to encourage Hindu protesters to take to the streets.”
However, the source also warned that “this is just the most egregious example of Indian Hindu nationalists using private social media posts to invade the UK.”
“Right now, what Modi and his BJP are doing is mainly local politics what they will do in Gujarat. [Modi’s home state] to get this or that local councilor elected,” said the source.
“But it needs to be stopped before it spreads to attempts to influence our national politics.”
The new claims by the UK-based publisher are likely to start a diplomatic row between London and New Delhi at a time when Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, a practicing Hindu, is making efforts to secure the post. Brexit deal with India.
Last summer, ethnic tensions in Leicester flared after months of building tensions between Muslims and new Hindu immigrants, tarnishing Britain’s image as a multiracial nation living in harmony .

The Daily Mail said quoting the source: “The alleged interference appears to be part of Modi’s desire to pose as the leader of Hindus around the world.”
Following the riots, studies were conducted with special reference to the role social media played in contributing to the Leicester riots.
Strategic Dialogue a think tank published a study showing that, when clashes broke out in Leicester, the Indian media portrayed chaos as Hindus came under attack from Muslims, with violence blamed on “Pakistani organized gangs”.
Within days of the cricket match fallout, pro-BJP activists and influencers framed the clashes as Hindus being the only victims, as noted in the study report.
A separate report from the US-based Network Contagion Research Institute also showed evidence of so-called bot farms operating out of India, retweeting messages on the Leicester riots in an industrial measure.
Charlotte Littlewood, an expert at the Henry Jackson Society think tank who investigated the riots, said: “The riots began as a result of tensions between newly arrived Hindu youth from India and the more established Muslim community.”
Littlewood added: “Although the reasons for the clashes were local, when they hit the international media, foreign pro-BJP elements began to escalate tensions for their own ends.”
“But it needs to be stopped before it spreads to try to influence our national politics.”
