With the withdrawal of the Ottoman Empire from the region, the rights of Muslims and Christians in Jerusalem are being violated step by step, despite numerous United Nations resolutions.

The creation of an independent, geographically integrated State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital, is an irreversible necessity.

Turkey is ready to do everything possible to stop conflicts and reduce tensions as soon as possible.

Adding fuel to the fire will not help anyone, especially civilians on both sides.

The Turkish president took a pro-Palestinian position in the conflict and proposed dividing the disputed territory within the borders before the Six-Day War , when east Jerusalem (the old city, the main shrines) and the west bank of the Jordan River were under Palestinian control.
