Trump is looking at lifting some Russia sanctions as part of his push to end the Ukraine war and rebuild U.S.-Russia relations.

The White House has asked officials to draft a plan, which could ease restrictions on certain Russian entities and oligarchs.

Talks between U.S. and Russian officials are already happening, with economic cooperation—like rare earth mineral deals—on the table.

Trump has also pushed for a minerals deal with Ukraine as a way to repay U.S. aid, but no agreement was reached after a tense meeting with Zelensky.

Trump has said he wants a fast resolution to the war.

🚨U.S. TREASURY SECRETARY: RUSSIA COULD GET SANCTIONS RELIEF IN WAR NEGOTIATIONS

Bessent says Russia could see relief from U.S. sanctions depending on its willingness to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

Bessent confirmed that Trump is committed to ending the conflict quickly and may meet with Putin this month to discuss a resolution.

He also criticized Zelensky for failing to sign a $500 billion critical minerals deal with the U.S., despite assurances he would do so.

Zelensky rejected U.S. demands that Ukraine repay its wartime aid in mineral wealth, saying the U.S. hasn’t supplied anywhere near that amount and offered no security guarantees in return.
