South Korea’s acting President Han Duck-soo has ordered emergency support for industries affected by new U.S. tariffs, including the auto sector.

The move follows Trump’s announcement of global reciprocal tariffs, which hit South Korea with a 25% rate.

Han directed the industry minister to negotiate with Washington and analyze the tariff impact.

Speaking with top officials, Han stated, “the government must pour all its capabilities to overcome the trade crisis.”

He will meet with the private sector to discuss next steps.

🚨🇺🇸 TRUMP: I AM ORDERING 25% TARIFF ON IMPORTED CARS AND PARTS

Trump has reinstated and expanded a 25% tariff on foreign automobiles and auto parts to combat what he calls a threat to U.S. national security.

The proclamation follows findings that U.S. carmakers face rising foreign competition, supply chain chokepoints, and declining domestic production.

The tariffs—effective April 3 for cars and by May 3 for parts—aim to revive the U.S. auto industry and limit foreign dependence.

Exceptions exist under USMCA rules if enough U.S. content is verified.
